Why Native?

Native vegetation is an integral part to habitat biodiversity and the overall general health of an ecosystem.

In addition to providing high quality native vegetation, ONHN will provide habitat management guidance and planting assistance.

ONHN is more than happy to discuss your project and habitat goals as well as visit your site to develop the initial strategy for the implementing a management plan.

In addition to growing vegetation, ONHN provide comprehensive habitat management plans for all types of habitat development projects.

ONHN offers planting and irrigation services for some habitat projects.  Please contact us to discuss your project details and we will determine if these services can be provided.

Native vegetation is critical in the habitat development and biodiversity of an ecosystem.  The native plants provide many functions like soil stability, improve water quality, provide food and cover for wildlife, and improve air quality.  Unfortunately, invasive plant species have over grown the native vegetation, lowering the habitat quality and threatening the more susceptible wildlife species.  Removing the invasive species and re-establishing native vegetation will help to restore Ohio’s native habitat.  Managing our open space, whether it be rain gardens and bio-swales or large tracts of mixed habitat areas, is critical in ensuring the native plant development and growth which provides the biodiversity for a very happy and extremely healthy ecosystem!
